Sodium PCA
Sodium PCA is the sodium salt of pyrrolidone carbonic acid (PCA), which is a humectant that is naturally occurring in the skin. It is one of the main natural moisturizing factors in the skin, along with hyaluronic acid (sodium hyaluronate), ceramides, and oils. Sodium PCA is a highly hydroscopic compound, attracting moisture from the air into the skin. It is a derivative of natural amino acid proteins that works especially well in aqueous serums and water-oil emulsion creams as a supplement to the skin's own natural supply of Sodium PCA and has an exceptionally light feel as it absorbs.
